Another long-rumored piece of news has been confirmed!

On November 18, GSK China announced that Chen Siyuan, Vice President of GSK China and Head of the Respiratory and HIV Business Unit, has decided to resign to pursue external career opportunities. His last working day will be November 30.

Meanwhile, Sun Lei, the current head of the Hepatitis Business Unit, has been appointed as the head of the Anti-Infectives Business Unit, taking over the HIV business, effective December 1.

Currently, the new head of the Respiratory Business Unit has not been confirmed. Fabio Landazabal, General Manager of GSK China, is temporarily overseeing marketing activities for the Respiratory Business, while sales operations are temporarily managed by Xin Chenyun, current Head of the Specialty Care and CNS Business Unit.

Since Wang Yizhe, former head of GSK China’s respiratory business, left to join Eli Lilly in April last year, the respiratory business unit has undergone multiple personnel and organizational restructuring.

In April this year, Gao Song, then head of the Respiratory Business Unit, stepped down. The respiratory product portfolio was split into new and legacy products, with Chen Siyuan and Zhu Ning appointed to lead the Innovative Products Business Unit (+CNS, HIV) and the Established Products Business Unit (+Hepatitis), respectively.

In May, Zhu Ning departed again to join Eli Lilly China’s Biopharmaceutical Business Unit as Vice President of the Specialty Care Business Unit. Meanwhile, GSK’s Legacy Products Business was reassigned to Chen Siyuan and merged into the Respiratory and HIV Business Unit.

Today, the news of Chen Siyuan’s departure was officially confirmed. According to Dami, he will assume an important position at another multinational pharmaceutical company.
