GE Healthcare to Establish Advanced SIGNA Architect 3.0T MRI Production Line in Tianjin Free Trade Zone

[Report] (Reporter Meng Xing) Recently, the Administrative Committee of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone signed an investment cooperation agreement with GE Healthcare. The world’s most advanced SIGNA Architect 3.0T MRI production line project will be established in the Free Trade Zone.

It is understood that the new production line project is expected to be operational in the second half of next year, with products covering the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and other regions. The added output value after production is projected to reach over 100 million yuan. The construction of this project will rely on the GE Healthcare Tianjin Production Base previously established by GE Healthcare in the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone. The first phase of the base has a building area of 40,000 square meters and has introduced advanced domestic and international production and testing equipment to manufacture MRI systems and their magnets for both the Chinese and global markets.

The Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone boasts port and airport resources, including the Port of Tianjin and Tianjin Binhai International Airport. It features four sites across three types of special customs supervision areas and enjoys policy advantages such as those offered by the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Tianjin National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. These assets provide GE Healthcare with broader development opportunities and a more competitive platform in Tianjin. A representative from the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Free Trade Zone stated that the GE Healthcare Tianjin production base is not merely a simple industrial project, but a landmark initiative with significant social impact and brand influence. Further cooperation with GE Healthcare will greatly promote the economic development of the Free Trade Zone. Meanwhile, the Free Trade Zone will focus on providing high-quality public services for GE Healthcare’s new production line investment, coordinate external relations, and facilitate the early completion and operation of the new production lines to maximize benefits and achieve win-win development.
