PRINCETON, New Jersey, Jan. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- A global leader in digital brand protection and product authentication technologySystechIt was announced today that the company hasTakeda(Takeda) Successfully upgraded the serialization packaging lines to meet new Russian serialization regulatory requirements. October 1, 2019 was the first deadline for the requirements of the pharmaceutical labeling system (encrypted serialization and tracking system) in the Russian Federation. Relevant specialized technical guidelines in Russia indicate that packaging for medicines in seven major groups classified under high-cost diseases must undergo serialization. New Russian regulations stipulate that certain serialization packaging lines at Takeda must achieve compliance by the October 1 deadline.

Centered aroundRussian Serialization Regulatory RegulationsA major challenge is that the new pharmaceutical product labeling system mandates the use of encrypted codes. This has significantly altered the technical requirements for Takeda’s serialization information system in terms of printing identification codes and system configuration. These changes also necessitated an evaluation of the vision systems and printing equipment across all packaging lines to ensure their capability to print and verify barcodes using the new encrypted Data Matrix codes. Due to Takeda’s strong emphasis on the standardization and unification of printers and vision systems, this was achieved within a relatively short timeframe.

Takeda, a long-standing customer of Systech, has worked closely with the company to upgrade its serialization packaging lines in order to meet the October 1 deadline. Takeda operates a total of 25 Systech serialization packaging lines across five countries affected by this new regulation.

David DeJean, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Strategy at Systech (David DeJean) stated: “This is an urgent mandate that Systech needed to fulfill. We began collaborating with Takeda in early 2019 to assess the requirements for each packaging line. We encountered numerous challenges during the development process; however, Takeda has now emerged as a clear leader in generating the first batch of commercial cryptographic codes and reporting them to the Russian government’s database (CRPT) across the entire supply chain.”

Michael Ritter, Head of Serialization and Digital Enablement at Takeda (Michael Ritter) commented, “This demonstrates Systech’s global business coverage andSerializationexpertise, enabling the upgrade and commissioning of such a large number of serialized packaging lines distributed across the globe within this timeframe.”
