Today, GSK China employees began their first day of remote work after the holiday, only to receive news of new personnel changes!
GSK announced to its employees that He Lijing, Vice President and Head of R&D and Medical Affairs for Prescription Medicines in China, has decided to leave the company to pursue external career development opportunities, with his last working day being February 10.
Prior to joining GSK, He Lijing served as the Head of Medical Affairs at Novartis China. In March 2018, he joined GlaxoSmithKline China as the Head of Medical Affairs.
On January 9 this year, GSK China announced significant structural adjustments and personnel changes in its prescription drug and vaccine divisions. Fabio Landazabal, then Senior Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Markets and China at GSK, was reassigned as General Manager of Italy. Qi Xin, then Vice President and General Manager of Vaccines and the Greater Bay Area for GSK China, succeeded him as General Manager of GSK China.
Qi Xin’s appointment ended the long-standing practice at GSK China of having foreign nationals serve as General Manager. As many may recall, Dami previously shared insights on the changes in GSK’s global regional markets, noting that GSK China was transferred from the Emerging Markets region to the Greater China and Intercontinental region.
Based on current reports, GSK’s China R&D and Medical Affairs teams will also be integrated from the Emerging Markets unit into the Greater China and Eurasia region. Meanwhile, GSK has announced interim management arrangements, with Abdelkader El Hasnaoui, Head of Medical Affairs for Emerging Markets, temporarily serving as the Head of R&D and Medical Affairs for GSK China Prescription Drugs.
