SHANGHAI and WADENSWIL, Switzerland, March 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Numab Therapeutics today announced the closing of a financing round totaling CHF 22 millionApproximately USD 22.6 millionSeries B financing round. New investors in this round included Shanghai Cp Guojian Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (under 3SBio Inc.), Mitsubishi UFJ Capital Co., Ltd., and Eisai Co., Ltd. Dr. Daniel Vasella, former Chairman and CEO of Novartis, joined Numab’s Board of Directors and participated in the investment. Existing shareholders of Numab also participated in this financing round. Shanghai Cp Guojian Pharmaceutical led the round with a CHF 15 million investment in December 2019. Dr. Zhenping Zhu, President of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer of 3SBio Inc., has joined Numab’s Board of Directors. Based on this financing, Numab plans to further expand its proprietary product pipeline and accelerate the clinical development of multiple ongoing projects. Numab also plans to conduct clinical trials for its leading oncology candidate, ND021, during 2020.

Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, one of Asia’s leading venture capital firms, focuses on investments in life sciences, information and communications technology, and high-tech sectors. In October 2019, Numab Therapeutics and Eisai entered into a global research and development collaboration agreement to develop a portfolio of multispecific antibody immunotherapies targeting cancer. In December 2019, Numab Therapeutics signed multiple product collaboration agreements with Guojian Pharmaceutical for the Greater China region (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan).
