Amid the pandemic, Takeda, a values-based, R&D-driven global biopharmaceutical company, remains deeply committed to the health of China and its patients. The company has responded swiftly, taken proactive measures, and ensured effective implementation to continuously support the efforts required for epidemic prevention and control.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Takeda China has immediately joined hands with all sectors of society to actively participate in the fight against the epidemic and support prevention and control efforts, providing full support and assistance to patients and medical staff in China. Takeda China Announces Another Donation of Supplies and Medicines Valued at Over RMB 3.4 Million Through the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to Support Designated Hospitals in Hubei Province and Other Severely Affected Regions in the Treatment of Patients with COVID-19 and Epidemic Prevention and Control Efforts
Previously, on January 25, Takeda China donated RMB 1 million and medical protective supplies worth over RMB 1 million through the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to support epidemic prevention and control efforts in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Subsequently, Takeda China actively organized and coordinated the procurement of supplies. Through concerted efforts across its global operations, all donated materials from Japan, the United States, and Germany—including face masks, protective suits, and disinfectants—were fully delivered to key hospitals in Wuhan designated for patient treatment, thereby providing protective safeguards for frontline healthcare workers. Meanwhile, Takeda China also supported the Chinese Cancer Foundation in donating 1,500 sets of medical protective gowns, which were urgently allocated to reinforce medical teams dispatched by various oncology hospitals across the country to Hubei Province.
Furthermore, to address the challenges and complexities posed by the continued global spread of the novel coronavirus, Takeda has recently announced a collaboration with national health regulatory authorities and healthcare partners across Asia, Europe, and the United States to initiate the development of anti-SARS-CoV-2 polyclonal hyperimmune globulin (H-IG) for the treatment of high-risk patients. Hyperimmune globulin is a blood product-based therapy that has previously been demonstrated to be effective in treating severe acute viral respiratory infections, making it a potential therapeutic option for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
