AMERSHAM, United Kingdom, April 1, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Cytiva, a global provider of technologies and services that help advance and accelerate the development and manufacturing of therapeutic drugs, was launched today. Formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences, Cytiva now operates in 40 countries with nearly 7,000 employees and is part of Danaher Corporation’s life sciences platform.

Cytiva President Emmanuel Ligner (Emmanuel Ligner) stated: “Our foundation of scientific expertise, our team, and our robust customer base position Cytiva favorably to invest, develop, and accelerate growth within the industry. Driven by unwavering passion for helping deliver life-changing therapies to patients, we will continue to introduce innovative technologies to the market that enhance our customers’ production efficiency.”

Cytiva’s experts and technologies have supported breakthroughs in science and medicine that helped shape today’s biotechnology industry. In 2019, more than 75% of biologic therapies approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) relied on Cytiva’s technologies for manufacturing. Furthermore, Cytiva’s technologies contribute to the emerging field of cell and gene therapy, having provided support since the first successful pediatric trial of CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T-cell) therapy in 2012. This field continues to hold immense potential, with over 1,000 regenerative medicine clinical trials currently underway worldwide.1

Accelerating development, production efficiency, and innovation in specialized fields are Cytiva’s key strategic focus areas, at a time when global demand for personalized and advanced biopharmaceutical therapies is steadily rising. Leveraging its facilities across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, Cytiva drives customer-centric innovation spanning from the ideation stage through to commercial development. The company also operates centers dedicated to customer collaboration and training to support the development of new therapeutic drugs, such as the Testa Center in Uppsala, Sweden, and the center established in partnership with the University of Technology Sydney.

Cytiva will also continue to pursue research collaborations, such as those involving its Advanced Bioprocessing Innovation and Manufacturing Center in Boston with Harvard (Harvard), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a series of teaching hospitals, and collaborations with industry partners such as Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies and Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc.

Cytiva’s diversified brand portfolio includes numerous well-known brands, such as ÄKTA, Amersham, Biacore, FlexFactory, HyClone, MabSelect, Sefia, Whatman, Xcellerex, and Xuri. This portfolio encompasses a comprehensive suite of instruments, consumables, digital and enterprise solutions, and services for research, process development, and end-to-end manufacturing workflows (scalable to meet customer needs).
