Sina Technology News: Afternoon news on April 8, Beijing time, according to foreign media reports,Applepartner Foxconn will manufacture ventilators in the United States to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.
MedtronicOmar Ishrak, CEO of the medical company, stated that Foxconn’s facility in Wisconsin would be used to manufacture ventilators. In a statement released on Wednesday, Foxconn also confirmed the partnership but did not disclose when or where the ventilators would be produced.
Currently, there is a severe global shortage of ventilators needed to treat critically ill COVID-19 patients. The collaboration between Foxconn and Medtronic involves the design and development of the devices. Isaac stated that production of the devices will commence within the next four to six weeks.
Since February, Foxconn has begun producing masks in China to prevent the spread of the virus. In late March, its subsidiary Sharp also started mask production in Japan. (Mu Er)
