On March 25, 2020, the Medtronic Foundation announced an additional $10 million donation to support global efforts against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This contribution follows more than $1.5 million in cash, medical equipment, and protective supplies donated by Medtronic and the Medtronic Foundation in February of this year.
Currently, the Medtronic Foundation is taking a multi-pronged approach by collaborating with more than ten non-profit organizations. Cash donations will be used to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline healthcare workers, support patients with chronic diseases and high-risk populations, and deliver urgently needed medical care, food, and financial assistance to underserved communities and vulnerable groups.

In addition to monetary donations, the Medtronic Foundation is organizing online volunteer activities, encouraging Medtronic employees to leverage their professional expertise to join non-profit organizations in their efforts to combat the pandemic. Meanwhile, the Medtronic Foundation will continue to launch employee donation campaigns to meet the needs of the anti-pandemic response. Going forward, the Medtronic Foundation will closely monitor the global progression of the COVID-19 pandemic, promptly assess anti-pandemic needs, and make additional donations and advance volunteer initiatives as appropriate.
