On May 6, AstraZeneca’s durvalumab received approval in China for two clinical trials: 1) in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy as first-line treatment for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer; and 2) in combination with chemotherapy as neoadjuvant treatment prior to surgery, followed by monotherapy as adjuvant treatment after surgery, in patients with resectable stage IIA–IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.

Imfinzi was approved for marketing in China on December 9, 2019, for the treatment of patients with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have not experienced disease progression following concurrent chemoradiotherapy with platinum-based chemotherapy. In 2019, global sales of Imfinzi reached $1.469 billion.

The PharmaGo database from Medicine Cube shows that AstraZeneca has registered a total of 12 clinical trials in China for Imfinzi, among which one Phase III study targeting urothelial carcinoma has paused enrollment.
