On May 18, Merck & Co., Inc. announced the appointment of Matthew Walsh and Rachel Stahler as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO), respectively, of its newly spun-off company, Organon. Organon is a company dedicated to women’s health, off-patent medicines, and biosimilars, whose spin-off was announced by Merck on February 5.
As CFO of Organon, Matthew will be responsible for formulating and executing the company’s overall financial strategy, while overseeing financial planning, taxation, audit, investor relations, and business development. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and CFO at Allergan. With over 15 years of experience as a CFO of publicly listed companies, he has extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions. During his nine-year tenure as CFO at Catalent, he executed 11 mergers and acquisitions and five divestitures.
As Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Organon, Rachel will oversee the company’s overall IT strategy, infrastructure, operations, and delivery, while driving digital capabilities to support the company’s innovation strategy. Rachel previously served as CIO at Allergan.
