On June 1, AbbVie and Beijing Jiakesi New Drug Development Co., Ltd. (Jacobio) jointly announced that they had reached a global strategic collaboration to co-develop and commercialize protein tyrosine phosphatase SHP2 inhibitors targeting key sites in cancer cells and immune cells.
Under the terms of the agreement, AbbVie will obtain exclusive licensing rights to the SHP2 program. Jacobio will continue to conduct early-stage global clinical studies for JAB-3068 and JAB-3312 until AbbVie initiates global development and commercialization, with AbbVie bearing the relevant research and development costs. Jacobio retains the right to exercise an option to secure exclusive development and commercialization rights for the SHP2 program in China, Hong Kong, and Macau prior to the commencement of registrational clinical trials. However, the financial terms of this transaction have not been disclosed. The transaction remains subject to filing under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.
