On July 4, Pfizer’s marketing applications for isavuconazonium sulfate capsules and isavuconazonium sulfate for injection were accepted by the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) in China.

Isavuconazole is a novel antifungal agent developed by Basilea Pharmaceutica. It received FDA approval in March 2015 under the brand name Cresemba. Cresemba has currently been approved in more than 40 countries and regions worldwide, with indications for invasive aspergillosis and mucormycosis. In patients with cancer or other immunocompromised conditions, these two infections can be life-threatening.

In December 2017, Pfizer and Basilea Pharmaceutica reached an agreement granting Pfizer exclusive rights to develop and market isavuconazole in China and multiple countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
