On September 25, Yiou Healthcare reported that a life sciences platform company named “BioMap” was officially established. Robin Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of Baidu, will serve as the lead initiator and personally assume the role of chairman of the new company. Liu Wei, CEO of Baidu Ventures (BV), will join as a co-founder and serve as CEO of BioMap.
It is reported that BioMap positions itself as a life sciences company driven by computational biology technologies, dedicated to accelerating the development of innovative drugs and precision life science products such as early screening and diagnosis through high-performance biological computing and multi-omics data technologies, striving to make more diseases predictable, controllable, and curable.
Furthermore, leveraging its biological computing platform, BioMap will significantly invest in the research and development of critical underlying data infrastructure and computational technologies, accelerating the development of high-throughput organ-on-a-chip systems, high-resolution material observation equipment, novel omics data acquisition and analysis instruments, as well as specialized chips for protein simulation and biological computing.
As planned, BioMap’s business will be rolled out in two major phases. In the first phase, the company will leverage cutting-edge AI technologies to build a comprehensive biological computing platform. Driven by both in-house R&D and strategic industrial investments, BioMap will collaborate with startups and research institutions operating along the new data axis and in specialized areas of analytical, design, and computational tools, thereby cultivating a robust biological computing ecosystem. This will enable BioMap to provide life science enterprises and scientific researchers with a rich suite of tool capabilities and end-to-end solutions, ensuring high-quality service delivery. In the second phase, BioMap will further engage in or lead the development of novel precision therapeutics and diagnostic products, working hand in hand with partners to deliver highly innovative precision life science products for the benefit of society.
