On October 26 (Shanghai), Cordis, a subsidiary of Cardinal Health, announced three distribution agreements. Under the latest agreements, Cordis has secured rights for the Thrombuster™ II Thrombus Aspiration Catheter, Zhikun™ Single-Lumen Microcatheter, Zhishuang™ Dual-Lumen Microcatheter, and Ultratimes®(Youyou®)/Ultratimes®NC (Youyou®NC) coronary balloon, Ikazuchi Zero/Raiden 3 coronary balloon, a total of five products with exclusive distribution authorization in China. These five products cover both domestically produced and imported items, further enriching the interventional product portfolio and providing more options for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in China.

Lian Jia, General Manager of the Medical Business Unit in China at Cardinal Health, stated that as a pioneer in the field of vascular intervention, Cordis has long prioritized the introduction of advanced global technologies. By providing high-quality, clinically validated advanced medical solutions, Cordis aims to benefit Chinese patients and healthcare professionals, with its product portfolio covering multiple areas including vascular intervention diagnosis and treatment. Looking ahead, Cordis will continue to collaborate with partners, leveraging its mature exclusive general distributorship model and an extensive, agile, and reliable supply network to bring more high-quality products and solutions to China’s vascular intervention sector, thereby delivering superior health protection for both patients and physicians.
It is reported that Cordis has signed distribution agreements with three companies: KeRuichi, Kaneka Corporation (Japan), and Bomai Medical. Notably, this marks the first collaboration between Cordis and KeRuichi, with both parties jointly promoting the clinical application of the ZhiKun™ single-lumen microcatheter and the ZhiShuang™ double-lumen microcatheter. It is worth mentioning that both products are independently developed by KeRuichi, breaking the monopoly of imported products in this field and representing domestically produced interventional devices. Furthermore, Cordis has renewed its partnerships with Kaneka Corporation and Bomai Medical, securing distribution rights for Kaneka’s Thrombuster™ II thrombus aspiration catheter and Ikazuchi Zero/Raiden 3 coronary balloons, as well as Bomai Medical’s Ultratimes.®(Youyou®)/Ultratimes®NC (Youyou®NC) Distribution rights for coronary balloons in China. The efficiency and techniques of clinical interventional procedures are expected to be further improved.
Cordis Announces the Simultaneous Introduction of Five Interventional Products: A Rare, Large-Scale, High-Level Launch Amid Intensifying Structural Adjustments and Mounting Innovation Pressure in the Medical Device Sector. Leveraging Cordis’s clinical expertise and robust distribution network, these flagship new products are poised to significantly advance the clinical diagnosis and treatment of vascular interventions in China, thereby supporting the Healthy China 2030 strategy.
The newly released "Report on Cardiovascular Health and Diseases in China 2019" shows that the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in China is on a continuous upward trend, with the total number of patients possibly reaching as high as 330 million. In 2017, the mortality rate from cardiovascular diseases remained the highest, including 13 million cases of stroke and 11 million cases of coronary heart disease. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading threat to the health of Chinese residents. Therefore, the "Healthy China Action (2019-2030)" explicitly states: "By 2022, the overall health literacy level will steadily improve, the incidence of major chronic diseases such as cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases will be controlled, and health conditions will significantly improve." According to data released by the National Center for Quality Control of Cardiovascular Medical Treatment, in 2019, the number of percutaneous coronary interventions performed nationwide exceeded 910,000. It can be predicted that with the aging population and an increase in the number of patients with underlying cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, the number of cardiovascular disease patients in China will further increase, leading to a substantial rise in demand for interventional treatments.
Advanced interventional products are a critical guarantee for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. As one of the first medical device companies to enter China after the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, Cordis has leveraged its rich experience rooted in the interventional field for over 60 years, along with its profound and unique industry vision, to continuously introduce multiple globally leading cardiac and peripheral vascular interventional solutions to China. The company has made significant contributions to talent development and the establishment of industry standards in China’s cardiovascular interventional sector.
