Today, insitro, a company dedicated to machine learning-driven drug discovery and development, announced that it has entered into a five-year collaboration agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) focused on the discovery and development of novel therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Under this collaboration, insitro will apply its proprietary insitro Human (ISH) technology platform to create induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based disease models for ALS and FTD. The ISH platform leverages machine learning, human genetics, and functional genomics to generate and optimize predictive in vitro models, thereby accelerating the discovery and development of therapeutic candidates. It will provide insights into disease progression and identify candidate targets. Based on these insights, insitro will leverage its machine learning-driven drug discovery capabilities to advance R&D programs. Bristol-Myers Squibb will have the option to select multiple targets identified by insitro for further clinical development and commercialization.

Under the collaboration agreement, insitro will receive a $50 million upfront payment and will be eligible for an additional $20 million in near-term operational milestone payments, as well as subsequent milestone payments totaling more than $2 billion. In addition, insitro will receive royalties on net product sales.
