Ping An Health (Diagnostic) Center Signs Agreement with GE Healthcare
In recent years, the state has continuously introduced policies to vigorously promote the development of the health industry. On June 19, 2018, Document No. 19 [2018] issued by the National Health Commission indicated that public medical institutions may use entrustment agreements for third-party professional services provided by independently established medical imaging diagnostic centers, medical laboratories, and pathology diagnostic centers as the basis for registering relevant diagnosis and treatment subjects at their institutions. Under this general trend, third-party medical services represent a key direction promoted by the state to advance tiered diagnosis and treatment and encourage private participation in healthcare provision.
Under this agreement, the two parties will build on their existing business collaborations to fully leverage Ping An Health (Testing) Center’s professional third-party medical service expertise and GE Healthcare’s resource advantages. They will cooperate in areas such as equipment commercialization, discipline development, education and training, operational technology enablement, brand promotion and industry advocacy, and scientific research collaboration. For example, both parties will draw on their respective strengths to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on the clinical imaging applications for specialized conditions such as cardiac, breast, and oncologic diseases, thereby creating comprehensive imaging solutions tailored to these specialties. GE Healthcare will fully utilize its network of medical institutions and expert resources to further foster collaboration between Ping An Health (Testing) Center and hospitals, establishing a closed-loop management model for specialized conditions such as cardiac, breast, and oncologic diseases that encompasses “early screening–diagnosis–treatment–rehabilitation.”
Technical proficiency in medical testing and diagnostic accuracy are key to ensuring the quality of medical care. Ping An Health (Testing) Center not only possesses research-grade imaging equipment but also aggregates resources from authoritative experts. On this occasion, GE Healthcare will provide systematic application training for the professional technical staff at Ping An Health (Testing) Center, integrating its own imaging education and training resources into the center’s imaging education platform. This collaboration aims to jointly establish an industry-leading Imaging Education Academy, set gold standards for the medical imaging industry, and deliver high-level, standardized imaging diagnostic services, thereby driving the rapid development of the entire sector.
Zhang Yihao, CEO of GE Healthcare, stated that talent development is a long-term process. He expressed hope that, through this collaboration with Ping An Health (Testing) Center, specialized skills training will be provided to professional technical personnel to enhance the comprehensive operational capabilities of individuals and various departments. Together, they aim to supply high-end scientific and technological research talent to the nation, improve grassroots service capacity, increase the accessibility of primary healthcare services, promote the horizontal integration and vertical flow of medical resources, ensure the balanced distribution of high-quality resources, and achieve the reform goals of “strengthening grassroots healthcare, promoting health, and reducing costs.”
