Wuhan, November 27 (CET/CEN) – Reporter Liu Xiaoxiao: On November 27, the China Medical Device Industry Summit and the 2020 Sinopharm Medical Devices Ecosystem Conference were held in Wuhan. In his keynote speech themed “Rooted in China, Innovating for Win-Win Outcomes,” Gu Yushao, Senior Vice President of Medtronic and President of Greater China, stated that Medtronic will accelerate its development by pursuing four strategic priorities: accelerating market access, deepening market development, promoting local manufacturing, and empowering local innovation. He also expressed his expectation to engage in in-depth collaboration with the entire industry across all value chains.

Gu Yushao, Senior Vice President and President of Greater China at Medtronic, delivered a speech titled “Rooted in China, Innovating for Win-Win Success.”
According to Gu Yushao, Medtronic is a medical technology innovation company founded in 1949, with its most famous product being the pacemaker. After more than 70 years of development, it now has 20 business units, and its products and therapies cover over 70 major human disease areas. In 1989, Medtronic entered the Chinese market and has been deeply engaged in China for over 30 years, establishing its own industrial value chain.
“Emerging markets, represented by China, will be our company’s most important growth market for a long period to come—the market we prioritize most and invest in most heavily. Therefore, we look forward to engaging in deeper collaboration and exchange with many industry partners in the future,” said Gu Yushao.
Gu Yushao shared Medtronic’s four strategic priorities for future development in his speech. First, accelerating market access to facilitate the clinical adoption of new therapies and products. Second, deepening market development, with the innovation center being built in Chengdu playing its due role in driving industrial growth in western China. Third, promoting local manufacturing to localize the entire industry supply chain and accelerate the integration of clinical practice and innovation. Fourth, aligning the company’s internal value chain layout with the broader external industry ecosystem to jointly empower local innovation.
