Konrad Struski, General Manager of Takeda's Tianjin Manufacturing Site, attended the conference on behalf of the company and accepted the award on stage. More than 120 attendees, including heads of relevant municipal and district departments such as the Tianjin Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Municipal Commerce Bureau, Municipal Public Security Bureau, Municipal Finance Bureau, Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, Municipal Emergency Management Bureau, Municipal Tax Service, the Tianjin Branch of the People's Bank of China, Tianjin Customs, as well as various district commerce bureaus, along with representatives of foreign-invested enterprises, participated in the event.
The application and selection process for Tianjin’s Advanced Foreign-Funded Enterprises this year was launched in July. Based on the principle of voluntary enterprise registration, and following preliminary review by the Tianjin Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, as well as verification and confirmation by the Tianjin Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau and the Tianjin Municipal Emergency Management Bureau, a total of 69 advanced foreign-funded enterprises were selected. The selection comprehensively evaluated multiple indicators, including the protection of employees’ rights and interests, environmental protection and green development, work safety, intellectual property rights protection, and participation in public welfare initiatives.
Mr. Shan Guohong, President of Takeda China, stated, “We are deeply honored to receive this recognition. Since entering the Chinese market in 1994 and establishing a production base in Tianjin, the Tianjin factory has become an integral part of Takeda’s global supply chain. Over the past 26 years of deep-rooted presence in China, its development has received strong support from the Tianjin Municipal Government and relevant institutions. Takeda remains optimistic about Tianjin’s economic development and investment environment, and we are confident in our sustained growth in the city. We will collaborate with more partners to accelerate the introduction of innovative products into China and Tianjin.”
Tianjin Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established in 1994. As one of Takeda’s key global manufacturing bases, the Tianjin plant primarily focuses on the production and supply of innovative medicines in two of Takeda’s four core therapeutic areas: oncology and gastroenterology. Products from the Tianjin plant not only meet the needs of patients in China but are also exported to multiple countries in Europe.
Since the beginning of this year, under the correct leadership of the Tianjin Municipal Government, all sectors of society have worked together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and fully promote the orderly resumption of work and production in enterprises. In May this year, with strong coordination from the local government and relevant departments, the Tianjin factory actively advanced the local production and subsequent arrangements for Vonoprazan Fumarate Tablets. Following the approval of the repackaging license, the product was launched in just 16 days, demonstrating how “Made in China” quality benefits patients. In September, the expansion project of the Tianjin factory, with a total investment of approximately RMB 110 million and a construction period of one and a half years, was completed as scheduled. This expansion nearly doubled the building area, quadrupled warehouse capacity, and increased outbound logistics efficiency by 2.5 times, further enhancing localized warehousing scale and optimizing the pharmaceutical supply chain. Additionally, the Tianjin factory has implemented a series of green initiatives, including large-scale solar energy utilization, heat recovery systems, and an innovative “sponge city” design for rainwater harvesting, contributing to the development of low-carbon cities and supporting the circular economy.
