Investment Circle (ID: pedaily2012) reported on December 8 that AI drug discovery company Accutar Biotechnology Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “AccutarBio”) recently announced the completion of a new round of financing amounting to tens of millions of U.S. dollars,Yitu Technology、Primavera Capital, CDH Investments and IDG Capital participated in this round of investment.
The funds raised in this round will enable AccutarBio to further increase its technological investment in end-to-end drug R&D, while also deepening its strategic layout in advancing candidate drugs from IND filing to clinical trials. AccutarBio’s targeted drug portfolio is currently focused on various types of cancer, with its breast cancer and prostate cancer candidates progressing most rapidly in the development pipeline and planned to enter clinical trial phases in 2021.
Founded in 2015, AccutarBio leverages AI technology to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of drug screening. Its self-developed cloud computing platform, Orbital Drug Design, is currently the most promising drug development tool for virtual screening of compounds based on molecular docking, capable of further accelerating computations and shortening validation cycles. Under traditional methods, the development of a new drug typically costs an average of $1 billion and takes 10 years. By utilizing the Orbital Drug Design platform, the AccutarBio team successfully identified several drug candidates within just two years.
Since its establishment, AccutarBio has established partnerships with multiple world-leading pharmaceutical companies. In practice, it has demonstrated that AccutarBio can provide optimal solutions across all core stages of preclinical drug research, enabling the end-to-end output from target identification to clinical candidate molecules for multi-target drugs. This approach shortens the traditional drug development timeline of 3–5 years down to just one year, facilitating faster and more cost-effective development of superior therapeutics, thereby leading the AI-driven revolution in the pharmaceutical industry.
