On the afternoon of December 15, Shanghai Origincell Medical Technology Co., Ltd. Li Hongming, Party Leadership Group Member and First-Level Inspector of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology; Gu Bing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Pudong New Area Association for Science and Technology; Chen Jun, Director of the Innovation Service Department of the Pudong New Area Association for Science and Technology; and Xi Donghong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Shanghai Pudong Activity Center, among other relevant departmental leaders, were present at the site to unveil the plaques for the two workstations.

Dr. He Xiaowen, Co-founder of Origincell Medicine, presented the objectives and missions of the experts and the workstation on behalf of Origincell Medicine. He expressed his great honor in collaborating withStem CellsIn collaboration with the renowned expert team led by Professor Gao Shaorong, and with the strong support of Professor Gao’s team, Origincell is poised to significantly enhance its capabilities. Both parties have already established practical goals and action plans. Over the next three years, they will develop new technological approaches, actively tackle key challenges in tumor immunotherapy, and advance the clinical translation of related products. This effort aims to break through technical bottlenecks constraining corporate and industry development, ultimately creating tumor cell therapy products that are low-cost, highly efficacious, and possess substantial application potential. Dr. Wang Jianxin, representing Origincell-Auto, outlined the objectives and tasks for the establishment of the expert workstation in collaboration with the experts: Origincell-Auto is delighted to partner with Professor Liu Baolin’s team from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to jointly establish an Expert Workstation. We are targeting the critical field of “cryopreservation of viable biological samples at clinical grade,” which urgently needs breakthroughs in the automated storage industry. Our research focuses on warming and cooling processes and technologies tailored to various types of viable samples, aiming to preserve their viability and functionality. This initiative seeks to propel the cryobiomedicine industry from scientific research toward industrialization, standardization, and clinical application, thereby providing strong support for the national strategic priority of “biological sample safety.”

Professor Liu Baolin stated in his address that automation and intelligence will become the mainstream development trend in the field of biological sample storage equipment. This shift will overcome many pain points associated with traditional sample storage models, such as ambient temperature exposure, frost accumulation and freezing, cross-contamination, manual operational errors, and difficulties in information traceability, thereby bringing about innovative transformation to the entire industry.

1. Professor Gao Shaorong

Currently serves as the Dean of the College of Life Sciences and Technology at Tongji University, and Deputy Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Translational Medicine. Has presided over and participated in numerous research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Shanghai Municipal Government. Has published more than 100 papers in prestigious international academic journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell Stem Cell. Received the WuXi AppTec Life Chemistry Research Award in 2009; the Zhou Guangzhao Foundation Outstanding Young Scientist Award in Basic Sciences in 2011; and was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. In 2014, received the Second Class Prize of the National Natural Science Award, was appointed as a “Chang Jiang Scholar” Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Education, and was selected as a Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation among Middle-aged and Young Researchers by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2015, received the Tan Jiazhen Life Science Innovation Award, was selected into the National “Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project,” and was conferred the honorary title of “Middle-aged and Young Expert with Outstanding Contributions.” In 2016, was selected as a Leading Talent in the second batch of the “Ten Thousand Talents Program,” received the State Council Special Allowance, and in the same year was recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology as one of the “Top Ten Advances in Life Sciences in China.” In 2019, received the First Class Prize of the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award, and in the worldStem Cellsenjoys considerable academic prestige in the field.

2. Professor Liu Baolin

Current Dean of the School of Medical Devices and Food, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology; Deputy Director of the Engineering Research Center for Modern Minimally Invasive Medical Devices and Technology, Ministry of Education; Head of the Cryobiology Group, Tissue Biobank Branch, Chinese Society of Medicine and Biotechnology; Director of the Shanghai Cryogenic Biomedical Technology Service Platform. He received his Ph.D. in 1996 and served as a visiting scholar at Michigan State University and the University of Arizona in the United States from 2001 to 2004. He has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Program, appointed as a Distinguished Professor under the Shanghai Oriental Scholar Program, and honored as a Shanghai Shuguang Scholar and Pujiang Scholar. He has published more than 200 research papers and authored three books [This section introduces the expert].
