【Pharmaceutical Network | Pharmaceutical Engineering] It is reported that at the centralized signing ceremony for the “Two Zones” development in Daxing District held on December 30, a total of 30 “high-end, precision, and advanced” projects were launched at the Daxing Biomedical Base, known as “China’s Pharmaceutical Valley.” Participating companies included Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Biotech Co., Ltd., Beijing Gene Key Life Technology Co., Ltd., Huayang Kuilong, Yi’an Hexing, Beijing Baron Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., Qiancheng Mirror, and Kangyanbao. The 30 signed projects covered fields such as biopharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine, medical devices, and service platforms.

The signed projects each have distinct characteristics and varying significance. Among them, the new COVID-19 vaccine production base project signed by Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Biotech Co., Ltd. will construct a production workshop with an annual capacity of 1 billion doses. Walvax’s COVID-19 vaccine industrialization base has also been established in “China Medicine Valley.” It is expected that the first domestically developed chimpanzee adenovirus vector COVID-19 vaccine by Walvax will achieve large-scale production next year, with a future annual output ranging from 120 million to 200 million doses. Zhongke Gene is building an independent third-party veterinary testing laboratory and establishing a high-standard smart veterinary diagnostic system. Qiancheng Image is introducing a microscopic imaging acquisition laboratory and a big data analysis center, which will fill gaps in the park’s industrial chain. Overall, the implementation of these new projects will inject new advantages and vitality into the development of the Daxing Biomedical Base.

Accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements in the biopharmaceutical sector and facilitating the establishment of cutting-edge projects as well as innovation and entrepreneurship teams are not only key components of advancing the development and construction of the “Two Zones,” but also crucial measures undertaken by the Daxing Biomedical Base to build a pharmaceutical and health industry cluster valued at hundreds of billions of yuan. In recent years, the Daxing Biomedical Base has consistently prioritized the introduction of high-end, precision, and advanced industries and the acceleration of project implementation as vital levers for promoting high-quality development, expanding investment, and integrating into the new development paradigm. By continuously attracting projects, increasing investment, and enhancing growth momentum, the base has seen a succession of major projects signed, commenced, and put into operation, playing a significant role in stabilizing growth, optimizing industrial structure, and improving public welfare.

Data shows that the core area of the Daxing Biomedical Industry Base covered approximately 13.4 square kilometers before its expansion. In 2019, the base generated RMB 29.3 billion in revenue, a year-on-year increase of 52%, equivalent to an average revenue of approximately RMB 2.2 billion per square kilometer. Since 2020, the Beijing Daxing Biomedical Base has proactively achieved breakthrough development, transforming passive circumstances into active opportunities. Revenue in the first half of this year is projected to reach RMB 13 billion, with all annual indicators expected to meet or exceed the 2019 levels.

Currently, the Daxing Biomedical Base is home to over 4,000 enterprises, including a number of leading domestic and international pharmaceutical companies such as Fresenius Kabi (a Fortune Global 500 company), Tongrentang, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Sinovac Biotech, and Hotgen Biotech. Its level of internationalization and influence are rapidly increasing. The base’s total revenue is projected to reach RMB 100 billion by 2025, RMB 260 billion by 2030, and RMB 450 billion by 2035.

Next, the Daxing Biomedical Base will align with the requirements for the development of the “Two Zones,” starting by strengthening list-based management. It will compile lists of policies, spatial resources, and target enterprises, and implement refined policy support tailored to the distinct characteristics and needs of enterprises within its jurisdiction. By providing comprehensive, “nanny-style” services, the base aims to create a more attractive industrial ecosystem, thereby offering robust support for the high-quality development of the “Two Zones.”
