Pfizer Withdraws Emergency Use Authorization Application for COVID-19 Vaccine in India, Plans to Resubmit

On February 5, Pfizer Inc. withdrew its application for emergency use authorization in India for the COVID-19 vaccine co-developed with Germany’s BioNTech. Pfizer was the first pharmaceutical company to apply for emergency use authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine in India. The company told Reuters that it had held meetings with Indian drug regulators on the 3rd and made the decision to withdraw the application afterward.
