On March 24 (U.S. local time, March 23), Pfizer announced on its official website that its oral COVID-19 therapeutic drug, PF-07321332, has entered Phase 1b clinical trials, making it the first oral COVID-19 treatment worldwide to enter clinical testing. Pfizer stated that in vitro studies conducted to date have demonstrated that PF-07321332 is a protease inhibitor capable of effectively combating SARS-CoV-2 activity. The drug is currently undergoing Phase I clinical trials in the United States, where it is being administered to healthy adults to assess its safety and tolerability.
