BridGene Biosciences Announces Strategic Research Collaboration and License Agreement with TakedaBridGene Biosciences, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a strategic research collaboration and license agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (“Takeda”). Under this collaboration, the parties will initiate up to five new drug discovery projects. BridGene will leverage its proprietary IMTAC chemoproteomics platform to identify novel targets and small-molecule candidates for Takeda, which will be responsible for advancing these candidates into clinical development.
Under the terms of the collaboration, Takeda will pay BridGene an upfront payment to secure a license for the IMTAC technology developed by BridGene. For targets selected by Takeda, Takeda will obtain exclusive rights to develop and commercialize candidate drugs arising from the joint research programs. BridGene will be eligible to receive over $500 million in potential preclinical, clinical, and commercial milestone payments, as well as royalties on future sales of marketed drugs co-developed under the partnership.
This collaboration represents an expansion of the first partnership successfully completed by BridGene Biosciences and Takeda in 2020. The initial R&D project under this expanded agreement aims to identify targets closely associated with a specific neurodegenerative disease phenotype and to jointly develop small-molecule drug candidates targeting this phenotype. As part of the collaboration, Takeda holds the option to initiate up to four additional R&D projects.
