Professional healthcare investment institutions such as LYFE Capital and Honghui Capital participated in the follow-on investment, while existing shareholders including GL Ventures, TF Capital, and Ming Bioventures also fully participated in this round of financing.

It is understood that,This round of financing is primarily intended to accelerate the R&D of COVID-19 vaccines, establish a vaccine industrial base, and further expand the product pipeline.

In November 2020, Abogen completed a Series A financing round of RMB 150 million, with investors including SDIC Venture Capital, GL Ventures, and Chengdu Kanghua Biological Products.

According to information from the Tianyancha app, Abogen Biosciences was established in January 2019, with Ying Bo serving as its legal representative.Abogen is an innovative biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the research and development of messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics. By leveraging mRNA instructions, it enables the human body to serve as a manufacturing facility for its own protein-based drugs, thereby achieving the goal of treating or preventing diseases.

In June 2020, the novel coronavirus mRNA vaccine (ARCoV), jointly developed by Abogen, the Academy of Military Sciences’ Institute of Military Medicine, and Yunnan Walvax Biotechnology, officially received approval for clinical trials from the National Medical Products Administration, entering Phase I clinical studies. It became China’s first mRNA vaccine to enter clinical trials, marking a breakthrough from “zero” in China’s mRNA vaccine development.

Currently, Abogen has established a robust product pipeline, with therapeutic areas covering cancer immunotherapy, infectious disease prevention, various diseases caused by protein expression or functional deficiencies, and universal and personalized cancer vaccines. Its COVID-19 mRNA vaccine has also entered Phase II clinical trials.

Dr. Ying Bo, founder of Abogen, stated that the successful completion of two rounds of financing was attributable to the company’s robust platform technologies, as well as the strong support from its partners. The Phase II clinical trials of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (ARCoV), jointly developed by the company and its partners, are nearing completion, with multi-center Phase III clinical trials overseas set to commence shortly. The company looks forward to contributing to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in China and around the world.

Looking ahead, the Abogen team will remain steadfastly committed to the development and application of mRNA technology, delivering more innovative therapies to patients and addressing unmet clinical needs. With its headquarters in Suzhou, Abogen will build on its presence in the Chinese market while maintaining a global perspective, striving to become a global leader in the mRNA therapeutics industry.

Following this round of financing, Abogen Biosciences will further expand its leading advantage in mRNA technology research and development. Meanwhile, the company will continue to refine its technology platform, increase investment in core technology R&D, and enhance sustained innovation capabilities. It will also accelerate the construction of its R&D center and GMP-compliant manufacturing facilities, advance the clinical development of projects including the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (ARCoV), and expand its product pipeline, thereby introducing disruptive technologies to the biopharmaceutical industry.
