Before joining this Alameda, California-based company,Shahida previously served asChief Strategy Officer and Chief Business Development Officer of Butterfly NetworkDuring this period, he spearheaded the initial public offering (IPO) process for this handheld ultrasound technology developer, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, financing, business expansion, and corporate strategy formulation. He also managed the AI and global health businesses and led the establishment of Octiv, the company’s advanced semiconductor business unit.

Acquired from Pixium Vision last year, this technology is a photovoltaic substitute for photoreceptors that has received the U.S. FDA Breakthrough Device designation. Its core advantage lies in enabling the simultaneous use of central artificial vision and peripheral natural vision.
Its working principle is as follows: when the patient’s rod and cone cells (retinal photoreceptor cells) are damaged,The Prima system helps patients restore vision by directly activating the retina. It achieves this by transmitting light signals to a small, light-driven implant placed beneath the retina, using specialized glasses equipped with a built-in camera and an infrared projector.
Currently, the commercialization of this product is progressing steadily: the company has alreadyIn June, commercial marketing applications were submitted to the United States and Europe; the patient registry program was launched in September, and positive clinical data were announced in October.
