On March 6 this year, Sophia Pan, former head of the Immunotherapy Business Unit at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine China, officially stepped down from her position and joined MSD China on March 9 as the head of its Oncology Business Unit.

On May 27, according to a report by “Pharma Rep,” Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine announced the appointment of Han Ting as Head of the Immunology Therapeutics Area, based in Shanghai, effective June 1, 2026. After nearly three months, Johnson & Johnson has finally filled this vacancy.

Public records indicate that Han Ting graduated from Fudan University and later earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Her career began at Procter & Gamble, where she served as a Business Manager. In September 2011, she joined Eli Lilly China as a management trainee, starting as a pharmaceutical sales representative in the diabetes division. She subsequently held various positions, including Brand Lead, Senior District Manager, and Head of Strategy and Operations, overseeing multiple therapeutic areas such as diabetes, oncology, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience. During her tenure, she was assigned on an international basis to Eli Lilly’s global headquarters in the United States, where she participated in the global marketing team for Tanezumab and contributed to the U.S. launch preparations for Verzenio.

In October 2020, Han Ting returned to China to serve as Marketing Director for Lung Cancer and Hematology Products in the Oncology Division of Eli Lilly China; in June 2021, she was promoted to Head of the Diabetes Alliance Division at Eli Lilly China.

In June 2023, Han Ting joined MSD China as Head of Product Lifecycle Management, becoming a member of the China Leadership Team.

On December 1, 2025, Johnson & Johnson China announced that Ms. Han Ting has joined the company as Head of the Neuroscience and Rare Disease Products Division and has become a member of the company’s management team.

Meanwhile, news of layoffs has emerged from Johnson & Johnson in the United States.

According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act issued by the state of New Jersey, Johnson & Johnson will lay off 56 employees at its New Brunswick headquarters. The layoffs will take effect on August 21. In 2024, Johnson & Johnson laid off 231 employees at this office campus, marking the company’s first round of layoffs in New Jersey this year.

A Johnson & Johnson spokesperson stated that the current layoffs stem from the company’s previously announced business restructuring plan—specifically, the divestiture of its orthopedics business under the MedTech segment. This spin-off proposal was publicly disclosed last October.
