As a beneficial attempt at collaborative innovation between medical institutions and enterprises, the “Medical-Enterprise Face-to-Face” (Cardiovascular Topic) exchange meeting was held in Shanghai on May 29, focusing on the development of the cardiovascular field and bringing together clinical experts from this city andInnovative HealthcareRepresentatives of medical device companies will deliver professional presentations on the clinical application value of cardiovascular disease products, promoting quality improvement and efficiency enhancement in the city’s biomedical industry.

This conference is jointly hosted by the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Health Commission, the Municipal Medical Products Administration, the Municipal Healthcare Security Administration, and Shenkang Center, with co-organization by the Municipal Biopharmaceutical Center and the Municipal Medical Association. It aims to continuously build a platform for exchange and cooperation among hospitals, physicians, and biopharmaceutical enterprises, establish a collaborative innovation mechanism that follows the principle of “from clinical practice, back to clinical practice,” and effectively promote the research and development of innovative products and their clinical application.

Liu Houjia, Director of the Municipal Center for Biological Products, stated in his remarks that the intersection of medicine and engineering is a key characteristic of innovative development in medical devices. The “Face-to-Face Between Medical Institutions and Enterprises” initiative has broken down communication barriers between healthcare providers and companies, promoted the deep integration of clinical needs with industrial innovation, and proposed a viable pathway to bridge the “last mile” in the adoption of medical products within hospitals.

During the product sharing session, HuiHe Healthcare, MicroPort CRM, Xuanyu, and Shape Memory introduced five innovative products selected for the “New and Excellent Drugs and Medical Devices” catalog: the transcatheter tricuspid annuloplasty system, implantable cardiac pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), single-use pulsed field ablation catheter for cardiac applications, and fully bioresorbable occluder. The presentations focused on the R&D background, technical features, and clinical application value of these products. Clinical experts from Shanghai Chest Hospital and Shanghai Children’s Medical Center further shared their practical experiences and in-depth insights on the use of the single-use pulsed field ablation catheter and the fully bioresorbable occluder, drawing on their extensive clinical expertise. The experts noted that these devices demonstrated significant clinical value in terms of operational convenience, intraoperative precision, and long-term patient outcomes.

During the academic exchange session, experts from Huashan Hospital and Xinhua Hospital shared their insights on cardiovascular intervention and the development of domestically produced devices, drawing upon clinical practice. The experts pointed out that clinical efforts should focus on simplifying procedures, advancing full-process visualization techniques for interventions, and promoting the concept of “intervention without implantation.” They called for deeper collaboration between clinicians and enterprises to address genuine clinical pain points, jointly driving technological breakthroughs and innovative development in domestic cardiovascular interventional devices to benefit patients.
