Original Title: Accelerating Bets on Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics, AstraZeneca, OrigiMed Inc., and Ping An Form an Innovation Alliance

The precision medicine sector remains highly active, with industry giants accelerating their strategic investments.

Recently, OrigiMed INC, AstraZeneca, and Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. announced the formation of a strategic alliance. The three parties will jointly establish the Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Innovation Alliance, leveraging capital injection to provide strong momentum for medical technology innovation.

This tripartite collaboration will more closely address the needs of cancer patients by leveraging internet healthcare as an innovative platform. Covering the entire process of testing, diagnosis and treatment, medication, and payment, it will provide cancer patients with guaranteed effective clinical care and reliable medication access. In particular, innovations in internet healthcare payment models will significantly enhance the accessibility of medical innovations, enabling more patients to afford medical treatments and medications while ensuring drug availability. Moving forward, the Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Innovation Alliance will accelerate deep industry integration and, through the consolidation of multi-party resources, deliver more personalized innovative solutions for patients.

In addition, "OrigiMed Internet Hospital" and "Fudan Cloud Pathology" have also announced a strategic partnership to further promote the sharing of industry resources, leveraging an "Internet + Healthcare" platform to benefit a broad patient population. This collaboration will achieve comprehensive coverage across the entire workflow, from pathological diagnosis to NGS, and from testing to clinical practice, accelerating the diagnosis and treatment process while enhancing the transparency of precision diagnosis and treatment information. The strong alliance between the two parties will fill the gap in precision diagnosis and treatment resources in China, expand the accessibility of precision diagnosis and treatment, and serve patients in China.

Currently, the global precision oncology diagnosis and treatment industry is experiencing rapid development, and its transformation and upgrading are concurrently facing new challenges. Focusing on the optimization and management of data resources has become an inevitable trend, while the provision of high-quality data samples is pivotal to novel drug development and the enhancement of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Furthermore, it is reported that OrigiMed has currently entered into strategic partnerships with Bayer and Takeda Pharmaceutical, respectively, to develop and advance the R&D and commercialization of innovative oncology drugs and companion diagnostic products.

Wang Kai, Founder and CEO of OrigiMed, stated: "As a precision medicine company driven by leading next-generation sequencing technologies and data, we will remain committed to prioritizing patient benefits. By establishing a world-class international exchange platform, we will provide one-stop solutions for clinicians, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies to drive the transformation of precision oncology diagnosis and treatment in China, and contribute to the long-term goals of the Healthy China initiative."

Wang Lei, Global Executive Vice President and President, China, International Business at AstraZeneca, told reporters from the 21st Century Business Herald: “As a localized multinational enterprise, AstraZeneca is actively driving innovation across all pharmaceutical fields, transforming from a traditional pharmaceutical company into an innovative, platform-based pharmaceutical enterprise. We are committed to local R&D, accumulating local patient data, and building an open and integrated healthcare innovation ecosystem. By collaborating with partners, we strive to bring more possibilities to patients and benefit a broader patient population.”

Wang Lei stated, "First, for patients, treatment opportunities leave no room for error, making precision therapy critically important. OrigiMed was the first in China to launch cancer testing products, developed a unique patient follow-up system, pioneered an internet healthcare service platform, generates intelligent dynamic reports, and provides highly professional interpretation services for genomic data."

AstraZeneca hopes to strengthen its collaboration with OrigiMed and Ping An in early screening and tumor indications. Through extensive academic platforms, this partnership will promote education and exchange in cancer prevention and control. I am confident that through this cooperation, we will undoubtedly accelerate the deep integration of the smart healthcare industry within the oncology sector. By fostering the organic convergence of advanced technologies, commercial health insurance, and the medical industry, and striving to advance the accessibility and affordability of innovative drugs, we aim to deliver comprehensive care solutions that span the entire disease journey—including cancer prevention, education, early screening, standardized treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up. I believe that through our joint efforts, we can support cancer patients both online and offline, expanding the possibilities for high-quality pharmaceutical and medical services, and contributing to the "Healthy China 2030" initiative.

Guo Yanqiu, Managing Director of Ping An, told reporters from 21st Century Business Herald: “Ping An is a technology-driven Chinese financial service platform focusing on major financial assets and the comprehensive health sector, providing human-centric financial products and services to 218 million clients and 598 million internet users. In China, over 3.9 million new cancer cases are diagnosed annually. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that one-third of cancers can be prevented, one-third can be cured through early detection, and one-third can benefit from existing medical interventions to prolong life, alleviate pain, and improve quality of life. Faced with such a highly prevalent yet preventable and treatable disease, outstanding enterprises like AstraZeneca and OrigiMed INC must adopt an open approach to cross-industry integration, gradually fostering a health ecosystem where health technology, the health industry, and health science converge.”
