EMA Confirms Capillary Leak Syndrome as a Rare Side Effect of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine

By ensuring that all medicines available on the EU market are safe, effective, and of high quality, the EMA protects public and animal health in the 28 EU Member States and countries of the European Economic Area.
On the 17th, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) held a routine press conference. The EMA’s safety committee confirmed last week that capillary leak syndrome is a side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine, recommending that individuals who have already developed the aforementioned symptoms should not receive further doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Meanwhile, the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) Safety Committee is investigating the potential association between myocarditis and pericarditis and mRNA vaccines. To date, there is insufficient data to establish a causal link between these conditions and the vaccines.
