According to a report by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on the 24th local time, based on the COVID-19 vaccine distribution and vaccination plan previously announced by the Australian federal government for states and territories, the projected demand for the AstraZeneca vaccine will decline significantly after October. This indicates that the federal government will gradually phase out the use of the UK-produced AstraZeneca vaccine and primarily rely on the US-made Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. This decision follows the prior identification of multiple cases in Australia of thrombosis, and even deaths, linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
