On June 2, 2026, HemaCell announced the completion of the second closing of its series B financing round, securing over RMB 100 million and bringing the total series B funding to nearly RMB 300 million. This second closing follows the company's previously announced first closing of its series B1 round, which also exceeded RMB 100 million, and was completed as planned within approximately four months. The second closing of series B included investments from new shareholders such as Shenzhen Capital Group (SCGC) and Hebei Industrial Investment Fund, as well as additional investments from existing shareholders including CDH Investments and Wedo Venture Capital, among others. Wedo Venture Capital, which has led the series seed round, has participated in multiple subsequent financing rounds.
The series B proceeds will be used to advance clinical trials across multiple indications for HemaCell's flagship product, the world's first megakaryocyte injection, as well as to develop its platelet injection pipeline. These efforts aim to address challenges such as blood supply shortages and blood-borne diseases, while significantly reducing the adverse consequences associated with blood transfusions. In addition, the funding will support the development of novel platelet-derived therapeutics for aging-related indications.
Following this financing round, HemaCell plans to initiate a pre-initial public offering (pre-IPO) round within the year to fund the establishment of manufacturing bases and expand production capacity. The company aspires to bring Chinese-originated innovation to the global platelet therapeutics field and usher in the second revolution in transfusion medicine.
Zhu Fangfang, founder of HemaCell, expressed her gratitude: "We appreciate the investments from both our new and existing shareholders. HemaCell will continue to stay true to its original vision, advancing steadily and pragmatically. Guided by market and clinical needs, and centered around our flagship product, we aim to develop a range of cell therapeutics targeting the platelet lineage. At the same time, HemaCell will rapidly achieve key capital market milestones to support the eventual launch of our novel therapeutics."
