On July 19, Eluminex Biosciences announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with FibroGen, securing exclusive global rights to develop and commercialize the latter's biosynthetic cornea for the treatment of patients with corneal blindness, with upfront and milestone payments for this collaboration totaling up to $108 million.

According to reports, this biosynthetic corneal product is derived from recombinant human type III collagen and is currently in the clinical development stage.
