Pedaily (ID: pedaily2012) reported on July 28 that recently, the innovative drug R&D platform focusing on liver diseases --- Suzhou Hepa Thera Biotech Co., Ltd. (Hepa Thera Bio.) (hereinafter referred to as Hepa Thera), incubated and established by the Fosun Health Capital Innovative Drug Fund, has completed a seed financing round of RMB 30 million.

Hepa Thera primarily focuses on liver diseases and has rapidly established its product pipeline through a combined model of in-house R&D and in-licensing. In pursuit of a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B, Hepa Thera has introduced a small interfering RNA (siRNA) product and a hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) neutralizing antibody through in-licensing and joint development.

Both products have currently entered the CMC stage and are expected to initiate clinical trials in 2022. The potential for combination therapy will also be explored to provide additional clinical options for patients with chronic hepatitis B. Additionally, the company is actively expanding its technologies and product portfolio in other liver disease areas, such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
