AbbVie Subsidiary Allergan Receives NMPA Approval for New Indication of Ozurdex in Diabetic Macular Edema

On August 4, Allergan Ophthalmics, an AbbVie company, announced that the second indication for Ozurdex (dexamethasone intravitreal implant) has been approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) in adult patients. Previously, the drug was approved in China for the treatment of macular edema in adult patients secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion or central retinal vein occlusion.
