On August 30, the official website of China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) indicated that Bristol-Myers Squibb Company's (BMS) PD-1 inhibitor nivolumab injection (Opdivo) was granted marketing approval.

Previously, nivolumab had already been approved for four indications in China. The issuance of this drug approval certificate marks the fifth indication for nivolumab in China. According to industry sources, the newly approved indication is for the first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic gastric cancer (GC), gastroesophageal junction cancer (GEJC), or esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC).
