On September 4, 2021, the “Beijing ‘Two Zones’ Development and Corporate Globalization Forum” (the 8th CCG Forum for Chinese Enterprise Globalization) at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), co-hosted by the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Beijing Municipal “Two Zones” Office, was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Zhu Hailuan, Vice President of Sanofi China, attended the forum themed “New Demands for Healthcare, Wellness, and Epidemic Prevention, and New Applications of Digital Technology” and delivered a speech.

Zhu Hailuan stated that healthcare is one of the most significant application scenarios for digital technology. As population aging progresses, the gap between the supply and demand for healthcare services will continue to widen. Digital technology can effectively empower the supply of healthcare services and medical products.

First, Sanofi offers a range of innovative products for the treatment of chronic diseases. The company began leveraging digital technologies early on to assist patients and healthcare professionals in accelerating chronic disease management, enhancing its efficiency, and enabling patients to manage their blood glucose levels more scientifically, ultimately empowering them to take control of their overall health.

Building on these successful practices, Sanofi established a dedicated digital health technology company this year named Amule. The company aims to better apply previous initiatives to a broader range of chronic diseases, helping more patients manage their health services. Meanwhile, it has also made efforts to empower healthcare professionals in clinical practice by exploring and implementing clinical decision support systems (CDSS) powered by digital technologies, thereby assisting medical personnel in further enhancing diagnostic and treatment services. Additionally, these initiatives help address disparities in healthcare service delivery stemming from regional inequalities.

Biopharmaceutical companies are fundamentally driven by scientific and technological innovation. Sanofi also leverages digital technologies to advance drug R&D, having established a Digital Innovation Center in Chengdu two years ago to utilize digital capabilities for the more efficient development of innovative medicines.

Zhu Huailuan stated that digital technology holds vast prospects for development in healthcare services and the pharmaceutical sector, and expressed her hope to leverage this platform to collaborate with everyone present in building a better, higher-quality healthcare innovation ecosystem in the future.
