On September 16, Wu Xiaobin, President of BeOne Medicines, announced a major personnel change to employees: Wu Qingyi, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Greater China, will leave the company to pursue external opportunities, with her last working day on October 1, 2021.
Wu Qingyi officially joined BeOne Medicines on June 19, 2019, as Chief Commercial Officer for Greater China. Prior to joining BeOne Medicines, she served as Vice President of the Specialty Care Division at Sanofi China.
Wu Qingyi is a seasoned pharmaceutical executive who has previously worked at multiple pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Genzyme, and AstraZeneca.
In 1996, after graduating from Shanghai University with a degree in Environmental Engineering, Qingyi Wu began her pharmaceutical career at Bayer China, subsequently holding various positions at Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Genzyme.
In 2011, Wu Qingyi joined AstraZeneca China's Oncology and Central Nervous System (CNS) Business Unit as Marketing Director, and was later promoted to Regional Sales Director. In 2014, AstraZeneca completed the full acquisition of the diabetes drug business previously operated in partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb. In early 2015, Wu Qingyi was appointed Head of AstraZeneca China's Diabetes Business Unit. In July of the same year, she left AstraZeneca to join Sanofi as Head of the Specialty Care Business Unit.
Over the past one to two years, innovative pharmaceutical companies in China have attracted a substantial number of pharmaceutical professionals. According to reports, Wu Qingyi will join another innovative company in China next month.
