【Pharmaceutical Network Pharmaceutical Engineering】Recent reports indicate that between September 16 and September 18, 2021, three major pharmaceutical projects were signed at Taizhou China Medical City, with a total investment exceeding 800 million RMB. The implementation of these projects will significantly drive the development of the pharmaceutical industry in both Taizhou and China Medical City.
The three pharmaceutical projects signed this time are the Sino Biological (Taizhou) Technology Co., Ltd. project, the AstraZeneca new project, and the Cavendish innovative drug base project.
On September 16, it was reported that the Sino Biological (Taizhou) Technology Co., Ltd. project, with a total investment of 150 million RMB, is primarily engaged in diagnostic raw materials represented by culture media, proteins, and antibodies,
Biological ReagentsResearch and development, production, and sales. It is reported that upon completion, the project will generate an annual output value of 300 million RMB. Sino Biological is a leading enterprise in China's biological reagent industry, primarily providing "one-stop" biological reagent products and technical services for basic research in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, and stem cell research, as well as for innovative drug R&D. On August 16 this year, Sino Biological successfully listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The company stated that through this collaboration, both parties will jointly facilitate the implementation and development of the company's project in Taizhou, expand employment, improve public livelihoods, and further accelerate the rapid development of Taizhou's healthcare sector. Upon completion, the project will also enable the company to scale up its operations and enhance its profitability and overall competitiveness.
The Taizhou production base of multinational pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca was established in China Medical City in January 2012 with a cumulative investment of USD 300 million. The base primarily supplies high-quality solid oral dosage forms to the global market. Since commencing production in September 2014, it has generated a cumulative output value of RMB 13.3 billion and paid nearly RMB 600 million in taxes. On September 17 this year, AstraZeneca will inject an additional USD 27 million into the Taizhou production base to construct new production lines, which are expected to be completed and put into operation in 2023. The products will meet the demands in China and parts of the European market. It is reported that this new project will further inject strong momentum into the expansion of the pharmaceutical industry scale and the sustained acceleration and efficiency improvement of the economy in China Medical City. At the same time, the signing of the new project also marks that AstraZeneca's development in China Medical City has entered the "Phase II" stage.
On September 18, the Cavendish Innovative Drug Base project also settled in China Medical City. It is reported that the project involves a total investment of 500 million RMB, leasing a 12,000-square-meter pharmaceutical formulation facility and a 7,000-square-meter
`Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient`The plant will be equipped with six formulation production lines for terminally sterilized small-volume injections, terminally sterilized large-volume injections, oral solutions, multi-functional solid dosage forms, and innovative traditional Chinese medicine compound preparations, alongside five corresponding active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production lines. Upon completion, the project will achieve an annual output value of 700 million RMB.
The successive settlement of three major pharmaceutical projects at China Medical City underscores the trust and high expectations that enterprises place in the park. It is reported that Taizhou, building upon its industrial endowments and prioritizing high-quality development, is committed to cultivating three major advanced manufacturing clusters: biomedicine and novel medical devices, high-end equipment and high-tech vessels, and chemicals and new materials, thereby gradually establishing a relatively comprehensive industrial system. Among these, biomedicine and novel medical devices stand as Taizhou's pillar industries, with their scale already surpassing the 100-billion-yuan mark.
In recent years, Taizhou City has also introduced a comprehensive package of policy guidelines to support the pioneering development of the Medical High-tech Zone (Gaogang District). For instance, the *Opinions of the Management Committee of the Medical High-tech Zone on Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Big Health Industry* encompasses seven key aspects: supporting innovative development in pharmaceutical enterprises, fostering R&D and innovation in medical device enterprises, encouraging foods for special medical purpose (FSMP) and health food enterprises to enhance their R&D capabilities, promoting the industrialization of projects, strengthening the construction of industrial innovation systems, advancing the development of health service industries, and providing rewards for the entrusted attraction of high-quality projects. Comprising 25 preferential policies, these measures will provide targeted support for the pharmaceutical industry in Taizhou China Medical City.
It is reported that, in the next phase, China Medical City will promptly, accurately, and efficiently address the challenges hindering project construction, accelerate the construction pace, facilitate the early commencement of production and realization of benefits for the projects, and work collaboratively with enterprises to explore broader prospects for cooperation.
