HANGZHOU, Oct. 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- A leader in electrophysiology interventional devices for atrial fibrillation in China -- Hangzhou Nuomao Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Nuomao")TodayAnnounced that it has formally signed an investment agreement and an exclusive licensing agreement with APN Health, LLC, a U.S.-based 3D cardiac imaging system company (hereinafter referred to as "APN Health"). This investment and collaboration aims to introduce APN Health's core product—the Navik 3D™ imaging and navigation system—to the Greater China market. In combination with the CardioPulse™ pulsed ablation product independently developed by Nuomao, it will deliver enhanced therapeutic solutions for patients requiring pulmonary vein isolation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and those with other complex arrhythmias.

Founded in September 2007 by American electrophysiologist Dr. Jasbir Sra in Wisconsin, USA, APN Health is a medical device company dedicated to developing three-dimensional cardiac electrophysiology mapping systems for the treatment of arrhythmias. APN Health’s core product, Navik 3D™, received U.S. FDA approval in 2016. By integrating only basic patient electrophysiological data with a fluoroscopic imaging system and proprietary patented algorithms, the device generates three-dimensional electrophysiology maps for catheter mapping and arrhythmia ablation therapy. Cost-effective and user-friendly, the system facilitates widespread clinical adoption, enabling more patients to receive effective treatment.

Nuomao is dedicated to the field of interventional devices for atrial fibrillation electrophysiology and stroke prevention, providing patients with safe and effective innovative solutions. Its core product, CardioPulse™, is China’s first pulsed field ablation system for atrial fibrillation treatment, developed with fully independent intellectual property rights. In December 2020, the product successfully facilitated Asia’s first pulsed field ablation (Pulsed Field Ablation, PFA) procedure for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and in July of this year, it successfully completed Asia’s first PFA procedure for persistent atrial fibrillation.

As a novel ablation energy modality, PFA offers superior ablation efficiency compared to existing radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation. It not only significantly reduces procedure time but also effectively addresses concerns regarding ablation safety and efficacy. The CardioPulse™ pulsed ablation product accommodates anatomical variations in pulmonary veins and enables delivery into multiple pulmonary veins. Featuring integrated ablation and mapping capabilities, the pulsed electrodes streamline procedural workflow.

The collaboration between Nuomao and APN Health will expand the application of pulsed field ablation (PFA) technology from the treatment of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation to various complex arrhythmias, establishing a comprehensive ecosystem that delivers advanced treatment modalities at lower costs, thereby providing patients with superior therapeutic options.

Zhao Yiwei, Co-founder of Nuomao Medical and Chairman of Nuomao, stated: "The introduction of APN Health's Navik 3D™ product marks Nuomao's transition into a provider of comprehensive solutions for atrial fibrillation treatment. The company's product portfolio will now be capable of treating all types of atrial fibrillation, ranging from simple to complex cases. Additionally, the technology's low application cost and ease of use will facilitate its widespread adoption in clinical practice."

Dr. Jasbir Sra, Founder of APN Health and an electrophysiologist, stated: “Through a strategic partnership with Nuomao, APN sees a significant opportunity to provide streamlined solutions to more hospitals, physicians, and patients. We will leverage the user-friendly and cost-effective Navik 3D™ platform to treat more patients with cardiac conditions by simplifying the treatment process.”
