Argon Medical Devices Introduces Innovative SCORPION® Portal Vein Access System for Transjugular Liver Interventions

FRISCO, Texas, Nov. 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Argon Medical Devices, Inc., a global manufacturer of specialty devices for interventional radiology, vascular surgery, and interventional cardiology, officially announced the launch of two unique portal vein access devices for transjugular intrahepatic access in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

The SCORPION® Portal Path Access (Portal Vein Access) series addresses the common challenges encountered by physicians when performing transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) or other portal vein access procedures. The Scorpion series comprises two product lines, Scorpion® and Scorpion®X, which deliver a higher degree of visualization, revolutionary navigational control, and enhanced durability to enhance existing procedural techniques.

The Scorpion Portal Vein Access Series features a patented "arc-on-arc" system that provides physicians with 360 degrees of maneuverability to access the portal vein using a needle or probe. Each curved component can operate in concert or independently to accurately guide instruments to the intended target within the liver. Existing systems utilize only a single curved component, which limits the maneuverability of the needle or probe. The innovative design of the Scorpion series was jointly developed by Dr. Lowell Kahn, a vascular and diagnostic interventional radiologist from Springfield, Massachusetts, and Medical, L.L.C.
