"Advance with purpose, embrace diversity." On November 5, the fourth China International Import Expo officially opened in Shanghai.

The exhibition area of this CIIE exceeds 360,000 square meters, with more participating countries and enterprises than the previous edition. The return rate of Fortune Global 500 companies and industry-leading enterprises is higher than the previous level, and the number of "first launch" and "first exhibit" products in some exhibition areas far exceeds that of the first three editions… While showcasing the scale and characteristics of the fourth CIIE, it places greater emphasis on sustainable development concepts such as the digital economy, low-carbon technology, and green production and consumption.

Data shows that nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 127 countries and regions participated in the corporate exhibition, with the number of overseas small and medium-sized enterprises participating in group exhibitions increasing by 30% compared to last year. This reflects the recognition of the general trend of economic globalization and once again demonstrates the "global magnetism" of the Chinese market.

On November 7, 2021, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), visitors viewed the "Fast Photon" booth of Sanofi. Sanofi showcased Dupixent (dupilumab injection) with a new indication for adolescents, aiming to provide a breakthrough treatment option for patients aged 12 to 17 with atopic dermatitis. An immersive ecosystem was created on-site, interpreting the Type 2 inflammation mechanism behind atopic dermatitis and unmet healthcare needs through an innovative blend of science and art for the first time. Sanofi is committed to bringing more innovative exhibits and a full-sensory science popularization experience to CIIE visitors. (Image credit: Zhu Weihui, reporter from The Paper)

The 4th CIIEMedical Exhibition AreaThe exhibition covers an area of 70,000 square meters, located in Halls 7.1, 7.2, and 8.1. Exhibits include pharmaceuticals, medical devices, high-value consumables, life science and clinical medical instruments, elderly care and rehabilitation aids, nutritional health products and healthcare, medical aesthetics, medical tourism, and other fields closely related to life and health.

Operators perform sample partitioning on the digital PCR analysis system. The Digital LightCycler digital PCR system, soon to be launched by Roche Diagnostics, makes its "China debut" at the CIIE. Real-time fluorescent PCR, which is currently widely used in COVID-19 nucleic acid testing, has become one of the most extensively used molecular and genetic testing technologies in the field of pathogen detection. Compared with sequencing and quantitative PCR technology, digital PCR offers higher sensitivity, enabling the detection of extremely low-concentration samples and achieving precise absolute quantification analysis. It shows broad application prospects in key disease areas such as infectious diseases and personalized cancer treatment.

The world's first intelligent and perceptible brain pacemaker, Percept™ PC, debuted as a star product in the Medtronic Smart Healthcare exhibition area.

This brain pacemaker can deeply perceive and record the patient's brain electrophysiological signals through electrodes that send electrical pulses to specific targets in the skull, obtaining objective data to help clinicians provide personalized and precise treatment for patients. At the same time, it can be flexibly adjusted according to the patient’s treatment needs and changes in their condition, truly making "brain-computer interface" and "human-computer interaction" possible in the field of clinical treatment.

Currently, Medtronic's Percept™ PC has been approved for marketing in countries and regions such as Europe, the United States, Japan, and Australia. The product is planned to launch in China in 2022.

Audience Monitors Blood Glucose Through the FreeStyle LibreLink App. In the field of diabetes management, Abbott has introduced the latest digital product from the FreeStyle family, known for "checking blood glucose without finger pricks" — the FreeStyle LibreLink app. The FreeStyle LibreLink can simultaneously connect people with diabetes, their family and friends, as well as healthcare professionals, helping them remotely and in real-time understand the blood glucose fluctuations of individuals with diabetes. This allows for effective intervention in patients' lifestyles, truly achieving more personalized diabetes management through mobile internet technology.

In the separation and purification process of antibody drugs and recombinant subunit vaccines (including many COVID-19 vaccines), 3M launched the Harvest RC chromatography clarification solution for the first time at this year's CIIE. This solution is specifically tailored for the efficient harvest and clarification of cell harvest fluids for recombinant protein drugs. Not only can it simplify the traditional three-stage process into a single stage, but with an antibody recovery rate of over 95%, it also helps the biopharmaceutical industry reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Johnson & Johnson's MonarchTM Digital Surgical Platform Attracts Many Visitors. The MonarchTM Digital Surgical Platform is a digital surgical platform designed for the diagnosis and treatment of early-stage cancer, currently applied in the lungs. It is the world’s first digital surgical platform for bronchoscopic diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Without making any incisions, the endoscope can pass through the bronchi to reach peripheral nodules deep within the lungs, extract tissue, and perform biopsies. With the support of Monarch, doctors can diagnose pulmonary nodules more accurately, especially those located deep within and difficult to access, while minimizing trauma to patients, benefiting our patients.

Johnson & Johnson's China debut of the "TrueFit" orthognathic digital system can provide precise virtual surgical design based on individual personalized needs, and customize personalized positioning guides and internal implant materials through 3D printing technology, helping doctors perform surgeries more standardly, simply, and accurately.
