Shanghai, December 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the National Healthcare Security Administration announced the "National Basic Medical Insurance, Work-related Injury Insurance, and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalog (2021))" (hereinafter referred to as the National Medical Insurance Catalogue), the dual-drug HIV treatment regimen Dovato (generic name: Lamivudine and Dolutegravir Tablets) from GSK successfully made it to the list through negotiation.[1]. As in ChinaThe FirstA complete, once-daily, single-tablet HIV dual-drug treatment regimen, which took only five months from its market launch to being included in the medical insurance.
Dovato is composed of a fixed dose of dolutegravir (50mg) and lamivudine (300mg). Dolutegravir is a second-generation HIV integrase strand transfer inhibitor that blocks HIV replication by preventing viral DNA from integrating into the genetic material of human immune cells (T-cells). Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor commonly used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV infection.[2]. Dovato was developed by ViiV Healthcare.
