Shanghai, December 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to jointly accelerate the promotion and implementation of innovative interventional therapies in grassroots and non-public hospitals, enhancing the development of interventional medicine disciplines and technical standards in China. Mr. Pu Zhengrong, Vice President of Siemens Healthineers Greater China, Head of Clinical Therapy Systems, Public Affairs, and Non-Public Healthcare Markets, and Ms. Yu Wei, Vice President of Medtronic Greater China, Head of Regional Growth for Greater China, attended the signing ceremony.
Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic Enter Strategic Partnership
The development of public grassroots hospitals and non-public hospitals is an important part of the "Healthy China 2030" plan. As global leading enterprises in their respective fields, both Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic have listed grassroots and non-public hospitals as strategic development priorities. "Enabling a wider population to enjoy higher-quality medical services and ensuring diversified medical service needs are promptly met—these two points are the business focus of Siemens Healthineers. Through measures such as restructuring the team framework, establishing a non-public business team, and initiatives like the 'Dandelion Healthcare Alliance,' we are facilitating the distribution of high-quality medical resources and promoting the development of grassroots and non-public healthcare," said Mr. Pu Zhengrong, Vice President of Siemens Healthineers Greater China, and head of Clinical Therapy Systems, Public Affairs, and Non-Public Healthcare Markets.
Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and tumors are highly prevalent conditions among the Chinese population. Interventional diagnosis and treatment have shown excellent effectiveness for these diseases, but their development varies across different regions in China. To address this situation, Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic have joined forces. Leveraging Siemens Healthineers' full-process solutions from diagnosis to treatment and Medtronic's leading position in minimally invasive surgical instruments and equipment, the collaboration focuses on the construction and development of hospital catheterization labs, integrating expert resources, organizing physician training, and enhancing professional skills. This initiative aims to promote the adoption of interventional therapies in grassroots and non-public hospitals, ultimately benefiting a wide range of patients and healthcare providers.
"Continuous attention to emerging markets and the non-public sector is an important part of Medtronic's localization innovation strategy in China," said Ms. Yu Wei, Vice President of Regional Growth Initiatives for Medtronic Greater China. "We will actively practice corporate social responsibility, focus on grassroots and non-public medical services, and promote the availability of advanced international medical technologies for Chinese patients. In this process, through various initiatives, we emphasize clinical basic skills training for doctors and new technology exchange programs to improve access to advanced therapies, accelerate procedure coverage, and serve more patients."
This collaboration further extends the leading advantages of Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic in the field of interventional treatment to grassroots and non-public hospitals. Recently, the first two sets of expert systems on the Siemens Healthineers’ Remote Intervention Master Platform have successfully been installed at Peking University Third Hospital and Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University. Through the 5G Remote Intervention Master diagnosis and treatment platform, experts can provide real-time online guidance to doctors at grassroots hospitals, promoting the下沉 of high-quality medical resources and helping to improve the overall level of interventional disciplines in grassroots and non-public hospitals. As early as 2019, Siemens Healthineers launched the "Zero-Start One-Stop Smart Catheterization Lab Incubator" project, providing hospitals with an overall solution covering catheterization lab construction, operation, development, and doctor training. The first catheterization lab under this project was completed and put into use in May 2019 at Baicheng Hospital in Jilin Province.
