AffaMed Therapeutics Secures Exclusive Rights to Luminate® (Risuteganib) in Greater China for Dry AMD and Vitreoretinal Diseases

AffaMed Therapeutics Announces Exclusive License Agreement with Hanmi Pharmaceutical for Risuteganib (Luminate®) in Greater ChinaSHANGHAI, January 3, 2023 – AffaMed Therapeutics today announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Hanmi Pharmaceutical. Under the terms of the agreement, AffaMed Therapeutics has obtained exclusive rights to manufacture, develop, and commercialize Risuteganib (also known as “Luminate®”), a first-in-class intravitreal injection for the treatment of intermediate dry age-related macular degeneration (Dry AMD) and other vitreoretinal diseases, in Greater China (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao).

According to the terms of the agreement, Beijing Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. will receive a total of $145 million, including a $6 million upfront licensing fee and milestone payments related to development, registration, and sales. Hanmi will also be entitled to receive sales royalties from the net sales of Risuteganib (Luminate®) on a proportional basis.
