On January 7, 2022, Absci Corporation announced a research collaboration with MSD. The two companies will leverage Absci's AI-powered Integrated Drug Creation technology platform for drug development.
AbSci Develops "Protein Printing" Technology by Integrating E. coli Synthetic Biology Platform SoluPro with Purification Platform SoluPureAbSci, through the integration of its E. coli synthetic biology platform SoluPro and purification platform SoluPure, has developed a "Protein Printing" technology capable of generating highly diverse strain libraries and complex biologic therapeutic proteins (including full-length antibodies, insulin, etc.). This allows pharmaceutical companies to rapidly produce biologics or products that were previously difficult to manufacture. Additionally, AbSci leverages an AI-driven deep machine learning technology platform to enable rapid validation of drug targets and cell line screening. According to the company’s official website, AbSci focuses on the development of next-generation biologics based on complex protein scaffolds, reducing the time for drug discovery and development from several years to weeks, while the resulting cell lines are suitable for GMP production.
Absci to Use Its Non-Standard Amino Acid Technology, Known as “Bionic Protein,” to Synthesize Custom Proteases for MSD’s Biomanufacturing Applications, Securing Upfront and Milestone Payments. Additionally, MSD Has the Option to Nominate up to Three Targets and Enter into Drug Discovery Collaborations, with AbSci Eligible to Receive Up to $610 Million in Upfront and Milestone Payments from Drug Discovery Partnerships, Along with Tiered Royalties on Future Product Sales.
