Recently, Reinovax Biologics announced the successful completion of a 200 million Series B financing round. This round was led by the Ruili Synthetic Biology Fund, with WinX Capital serving as the exclusive financial advisor.

The funds raised in this financing round will be primarily allocated to advance the clinical research and regulatory approval process for Reinovax Biologics' core product, the 24-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV24), targeting both adult and pediatric populations, as well as to support the research, development, and pipeline expansion of innovative meningococcal vaccines.
Founded in September 2017 by the experienced returnee expert Dr. Zhu Xianchao, Reinovax Biologics specializes in the research, development, and industrialization of novel vaccines, antibodies, and recombinant protein therapeutics. Its core product, PCV24, is specifically designed to address the serotype epidemiology of pneumococcal disease in China, with expected protective coverage increasing from the current approximately 75% to over 90%. Currently, the Phase III clinical trial for the adult indication is about to be initiated, while the Phase II trial for the pediatric indication is underway. In addition, Reinovax is expanding its pipeline with innovative meningococcal vaccines, which are poised to enter clinical trials.
Streptococcus pneumoniae is a leading pathogen responsible for lower respiratory tract infections and community-acquired pneumonia. With a high carriage rate in the population, it is often referred to as a "silent killer." Particularly among infants, the elderly, and adults with underlying medical conditions, pneumococcal infection is a major cause of invasive diseases such as meningitis and sepsis, imposing a significant disease and economic burden on healthcare systems and society. In recent years, the development of broad-spectrum polysaccharide-protein conjugate vaccines with extensive serotype coverage has become a key focus in the industry, offering improved solutions for earlier market entry and broader public health benefits.
The application of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines in infants has been thoroughly validated and recognized through decades of clinical use, and its potential in adult populations is substantial. Statistics indicate that China's population aged 60 and above exceeds 300 million, while the global market for adult pneumococcal vaccines reaches billions of U.S. dollars. With the accelerating trend of global population aging and the increasing prevalence of underlying conditions such as diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases, the need for effective adult pneumococcal prevention is becoming increasingly urgent.
Currently, the only pneumococcal vaccine approved for adults in China is the 23-valent Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (PPSV23). However, given its inapplicability to infants and suboptimal efficacy in immunocompromised elderly individuals, there remains a significant unmet clinical need. Through innovative design and proprietary intellectual property, Reinovax's PCV24, as a leading high-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine globally, offers broader protection for all age groups and holds critical strategic importance for safeguarding public health.
