On January 26, the NMPA issued a notice showing that Anhui Wanbang Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd.'s insulin lispro injection has been approved for marketing, becoming the second domestically produced version. Previously, only insulin lispro from Eli Lilly and Gan&Lee Pharmaceuticals had been approved for marketing in China.

Lispro Insulin is a product of the insulin-specific centralized procurement (the sixth batch), belonging to the mealtime insulin analog group. Eli Lilly and Gan&Lee Pharmaceuticals were selected as Class A and Class B, respectively. Currently, in addition to these three companies, Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is also developing lispro insulin injection, which just initiated Phase III clinical trials in December 2021.
