On January 1, 2026, HemaCell Therapeutics announced the completion of an additional tens of millions in Series B1 equity financing within just one week. Previously, HemaCell Therapeutics had officially disclosed the initial close of its over 100 million Series B1 equity round, along with a credit-based debt financing exceeding 100 million. This latest investment of 40 million comes from the Ji Yan New Momentum Phase I Innovative Drug Fund, managed by Hebei Coastal Industry Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd., and will be used to advance HemaCell's core business—the in vitro regeneration of platelet lineages. This technology aims to address critical issues such as blood supply shortages and bloodborne diseases, significantly reduce adverse outcomes associated with transfusions, and develop novel therapeutics derived from regenerated platelets.

The swift and independent closing of this investment reflects the recognition and strong support from Coastal Fund for the HemaCell project. It is reported that the second close of HemaCell's Series B1 round is also underway and is expected to be completed within the coming months.

Following this funding round, HemaCell Therapeutics will also initiate overseas expansion and financing efforts, aiming to let "Original Chinese Innovation" shine globally and bring about a second revolution in transfusion medicine worldwide.

HemaCell Therapeutics has independently developed the world's first-of-its-kind products—two megakaryocyte cell therapies—which have already received Investigational New Drug (IND) approvals from both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). These products are derived from hematopoietic stem cells as source cells, without any genetic editing. Through a serum-free, feeder-free, immortalization-free, and contaminant-free directed induction and differentiation system, they generate high-quality, large-scale, stable, and controllable megakaryocytes, targeting the vast global market for platelet-enhancing therapies. Furthermore, based on HemaCell's pipeline development progress, around four to five IND applications are expected to enter the submission and approval stages in 2026.

HemaCell Therapeutics has also demonstrated outstanding performance in developing the world's first platelet injection product derived from in vitro induced differentiation. HemaCell Therapeutics has developed multiple pioneering products that have received FDA Orphan Drug Designation (ODD), including platelet injections derived from hematopoietic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). According to available data, HemaCell has been granted a total of five ODDs and two Rare Pediatric Disease Designations (RPDDs) by the FDA, providing new therapeutic approaches for rare blood disorders.
